From medicinal heath herb walks and building your own terrariums, to learning how to create your own Kokedama hanging scultpure, get your green-fingers going in one of our fun, hands-on workshops.

Taking place in The Nursery Workshop space, all our workshops are free and spaces are available on a first-come basis so arrive early!

FRIDAY 24 JUNE

HERBAL WORKSHOP: SOOTHING SLEEP SACHETS
11.30 - 12.30pm
Join herbalists Victoria Chown & Kim Walker from Handmade Apothecary as they take a look at the medicinal & soothing properties of aromatic garden flowers. Join in and create your own relaxing & luxurious herbal milk bath sachet (Vegan option available)

KOKEDAMA WORKSHOP
2.30 - 3.30pm
Come along to create a ‘Kokedama’ a Japanese variant of bonsai, which has become an Instagram craze. Join creative folk from geo-fleur as you transform everyday houseplants into beautiful dangling sculptural objects.

But you may ask, what is Kokedama? Kokedama (translation “moss ball”) is the practice of removing a root system from its container, surrounding it in a mud cake and wrapping the whole mess in moss before winding it in string. The original Japanese form of Kokedama was then displayed on an altar-like platform.

SATURDAY 25 JUNE

THINK UP – VERTICAL GARDENING FOR ALL
11.30-12.30pm
Tony Woods, the designer of The Gardening Society roof garden at John Lewis Oxford Street will be running a fun, interactive workshop on how to create your very own garden or living wall, and Tony will tell you about the inspiration behind The Gardening Society roof garden.

BUILD YOUR OWN TERRARIUM
1 - 2pm
Join London Terrariums for a session of getting your hands dirty and building your own Demijohn Terrarium. Starting with a brief introduction into the history and science behind terrariums and a demo explaining the components used to build it and why they are all of importance. Then it is down to you to get stuck in and have a go yourself!

HELEN ROBINSON’S MACRAME WORKSHOP
4 - 6pm
The Macrame revival has finally hit our shores, and we’ve teamed up with Macrame artist Helen Robinson to bring you a unique workshop designed especially for GROW London. In this two hour class Helen will show you the ropes in order to create your own throughly modern plant hanger to take home with you. This workshop is aimed at total beginners, no experience is needed.

HOW TO SOW SEEDS SUCCESSFULLY
1 -2pm
Jekka McVicar ’Queen of Herbs’ shares her tricks of the trade, to successfully germinate seeds and be able to take home what you sow.

BUILD YOUR OWN TERRARIUM

If you missed Saturday’s workshop, fret not London Terrariums is back for another hands on session, building your own Demijohn Terrarium.

HOW TO CREATE THE PERFECT BOUQUET WITH BLOOMON
4 - 5pm
Ever wondered how to put together breathtakingly beautiful bouquets? Bloomon’s expert florist will teach you how to recreate Bloomon’s trademark style in this interactive workshop. You will create a stunning bouquet, stem by stem, to take home whilst learning about all of this season’s trends!

HERB WALK: MID-SUMMER ABUNDANCE
FRIDAY, 2 - 2.45pm & SUNDAY, 1.30 - 2.15pm
Join herbalists Kim Walker and Victoria Chown from Handmade Apothecary on a herb walk at the Hampstead Heath Grow site looking at the abundance of mid-Summer wild flowers & herbs. This walk will be a taster looking at the medicinal and edible uses of the wild weeds you can find in your gardens. The walk will involve a gentle stroll into the neighbouring meadows which involves uneven ground.
