FEATURE AREAS AT GROW LONDON

Be sure to stop and admire our beautiful feature areas, bursting with inspiration and ideas to steal for your own gardens at home and an interactive crafts retreat where you can get a little handy too.

For our third edition, we’ll have stunning feature areas designed by Clifton Nurseries, The Green Wood Guild, The Flower Union, Francesca Murrell and an exquisite botanical installation created by Helen Robinson, and Conservatory Archives.

BEACH RETREAT GARDEN

Nature Redesigned team, Francesca Murrell and Emma Page, who together designed the RHS Chelsea gold medal winning DialAFlight Potter’s Garden in 2014, are bringing a touch of the seaside to Hampstead Heath, with their quirky Beach Retreat Garden.

Incorporating billowing waves of silvery-white, blues and pinks, the planting has all been selected for its suitability to exposed, dry coastal areas, but all of which would be equally at home in London roof gardens due to its tolerance of wind and dry conditions.

Supported by Carl Austin Furniture and Urbis, the girls will be showcasing a seaside yoga retreat with a living roof, demonstrating how even the smallest garden structure can improve biodiversity and increase wildlife habitat. This garden will bring a bit of joie de vivre and a breath of fresh holiday air to London this year.

THE GREEN WOOD GUILD

The Green Wood Guild run London’s best green woodwork courses from timber framing and joinery to axe forging and whittling.

Joined by Britain’s leading authority on spoon carving, Barn the Spoon, collectively they will demonstrate a wide range of woodworking skills within their interactive feature. Try your hand at splitting a roof shingle or weaving hazel onto one of their beautiful garden structures forming the centrepiece for their display.

PLANT LORE

It all started with a trip to Kew Gardens and a walk through the Iconic Palm House, taking in the beauty of the conservatories and the plants they house. An idea followed to create something unexpected, intricate but familiar for GROW London.

Macrame artist Helen Robinson collaborates with Jin Ahn from Conservatory Archives in Hackney to create a unique botanical installation of macramé hangers with a variety of unusual plantae. Both horticulturists share the same love for botany, interiors, and the creative environment of London’s East end.
