ACTIVITIES AND WORKSHOPS AT GROW LONDON 2014
Pick up some top growing tips in our free tours of the fair, learn about allotment gardening on the heath and be encouraged to grow your own veg or home remedies in one of our hands-on workshops. All our activities are free and are a fun way to improve your knowledge and get your hands a little dirty at the same time!
THE GARDEN MEDICINE CHEST

Whether you have a window box or acres to play with, medical herbalist Kim Walker will show you how to concoct some simple home remedies using easily grown, common herbs.
Workshop will last roughly one hour.
SEED SOWING WORKSHOP

Paolo Arrigo of Seeds of Italy leads a practical workshop showing you which alpine varieties of vegetable you can plant now for a tasty autumn/winter harvest.
YOUR GARDEN PROBLEMS - SOLVED!

The Young Hort team have selected their top five gardening faux-pas, from improper planting to under watering and over fertilising. Taking us through each problem by way of example, they’ll soon put us right.
HERBS OF THE HEATH WALK

Did you know local poet John Keats would have used the heath for plant identification during his medical training in the early 1800s? Discover the different medicinal plants flourishing on the heath today on a short walk with medical herbalist Kim Walker, as she discusses their traditional uses, folklore and modern day applications.
Tour will leave from the Info Desk and last about an hour.
ALLOTMENT DISCOVERY TOUR
Sunday 22 June
2pm and 3.30pm
If you’re keen to take on an allotment, or simply want to know more about what goes on in one, this fun walking tour is for you. A heath ranger will lead you on the 20 minute nature trail to the Fitzroy Park Allotments on Hampstead Heath, where Mick Rand of the Fitzroy Park Allotment Association will take you round the plots. You’ll discover the history of the site, the newly planted orchard and stream, as well as picking up plenty of tips on growing first-rate fruit and veg. Refreshments available for a small charge.
Tours will leave from the Info Desk and will last about an hour to an hour and a half.

RIGHT PLANT, RIGHT PLACE TOUR
Every day at 2pm
Join Mark Gardner, GROW London’s resident gardener, as he leads tours around the show dedicated to helping you find the perfect plant for your plot, whether it’s hot, dry, shady or small!
Tours will leave from the Greenhouse at 2pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will last around 30 minutes.
